Thar She Blows!!!

After 10 years of travel in space, Rosetta is now tired of waiting... Waiting with a harpoon to plunge into Comet 67B and make history... Earthlings are enjoying the show...

Rosetta landing is a "GO"! - http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/11/world/comet-landing-countdown/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Peeping Tom

Distant galaxies, supernovae, stars, blackholes, planets and what not... Earth has been busy watching everything around and NASA just announced it has found 715 planets from Kepler mission (http://io9.com/nasa-confirms-the-existence-of-715-new-exoplanets-1531783401). It has already its foot on Moon, Curiosity happily nudging along on Mars and Cassini watching Saturn (Watch out for a movie releasing soon based on Cassini's images - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mG7GP86k74). Exciting times in Astronomy indeed.

Moving Out!!

All of you might have heard by now that Voyager 1 has left the heliosphere or our solar system into the interstellar space (http://io9.com/a-map-of-our-solar-system-that-puts-it-into-proper-pers-1306914132). You can check the current location of voyager 1 here:
http://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/where/
According to data it is about 17 light hours away. I think this was a perfect analogy of a teenager moving out of parent's house into the college.
In voyager 1's case it is going to be a 30000 year long college in dorm with the Oort Cloud.
It's been hearing interesting interstellar noise (http://io9.com/the-sound-of-interstellar-space-is-actually-kind-of-ter-1302701737)

Kepler's New Mission

It seems NASA's Kepler mission is sadly coming to an end due to an onboard failure. However it is still operational for non-precision work. NASA's exploring additional ideas for it.

Meanwhile Galactus gets hold of the Kepler spacecraft, and molds it to do his bidding. The planet hunter has been programmed to be the planet eater's minion. All worlds tremble!!
